Ravintsara (not to be confused with Ravensara) is derived from the leaves of the Cinnamomum camphor and the uses and benefits of this oil are many. Ravintsara essential oil has several uses and benefits you should know about.

For example, Ravintsara is thought to help build immunity from colds and/or infections. Use this oil through massage, baths or in your diffuser.  With all the nasty colds and flu going around, it would help to make this a preventative measure if possible. Insomnia can sometimes be an issue this time of year as well. We aren't up and moving around as much as we'd like and this can cause insomnia. Try a blend of Ravintsara essential oil with Lavender essential oil and reclaim a good night's rest.

If you are working on household projects this time of year and get a few cuts and scrapes, try using Ravintsara oil has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that, when applied, can prevent infection from spreading. It also has anti-inflammatory abilities that to ease any redness or itching in the affected area. Just add a few drops to an ointment or salve and apply it to your wound. Be careful not to apply the oil directly to any open wounds.

It will get rid of unwanted odor in the home, such as cooking odors, pets and the staleness if your house hasn't been aired out due to winter.  Diffusing this oil will get rid of those unwanted smells and uplift your mood at the same time.  It's a win-win.

Other things Ravintsara is great for is aiding in laryngitis, bronchitis, sinus congestion, thrush, asthma and reducing the severity of allergies.
